Description and Timetable of Daily Activities
Schedule Summary
The First Two Days
Participants arrive on the first Friday of their session (See the Travel Logistics page). BISA staff will transport them from Pitigliano to their accommodation, where they will get settled and rest from the travel. On Friday evening, we will provide an orientation.
Saturday and the first half of Sunday will be dedicated entirely to lectures and classroom learning. Participants will learn about the history and geography of our region, basic archaeology methods, stratigraphic theory, and specific information about our project site.
Sunday afternoon will be free time.
Work Days
After these introductory lectures, field work begins on Monday. Our work will proceed Monday through Friday. Depending on the evolving needs of the project, work days will include a combination of field work, laboratory activities, and classroom instruction.

Weekends
On Saturday mornings, we will embark on cultural excursions and visit museums and heritage sites. After this is complete, participants have free time for leisure activities (BISA does NOT provide dinner on Saturday) until dinner on Sunday.
For the staff, Sundays are reserved for management, preparation, and logistical duties.
Schedule Adjustments
We will adjust activities and schedules as weather conditions, project demands, and other logistical concerns require. During bad weather or on days when we are unable to be in the field, we will prioritize laboratory work, museum visits, and classroom instruction. We will adjust the week’s planned activities as necessary.
